One of the most-awaited (or most-dreaded) events in a student’s life is receiving their report card. It is a way for them to concretely grasp how they performed in their classes. You can easily calculate and release final grades In Brightspace once you’ve setup and used your grading system and Grade Books properly.
At the end of the course or a grading period, you can share with the learners how they performed in your course by releasing their final grades from your grade book.
Go to the Course and click Grades from the navigation bar.
Make sure that the grades for each content is correct and updated. You can learn more about Entering and Editing Grade Items here.
Navigate to the Final Calculated and Final Adjusted Grades columns. The closed eye icon indicates that a grade has not yet been released and is hidden from the student. To release the grades, click the context menu or the downward point arrows for the Final Calculated Grade or Final Adjusted Grade. Select Enter Grades.
From here, you may review the final grades of the students. You can only use and release one final grade to your students: Final Calculated Grade or Final Adjusted Grade. The Final Adjusted Grade allows you to override a learners total grade without changing the grade of each grade item. To display and edit the current raw score of a student, click on the corresponding Recalculate Final Adjusted Grade icon or the calculator icon. Adjust the numerator and denominator accordingly,
Navigate to, and select, the student or students whose grades you want to release. You may check select all rows on the upper left corner of the table to select all students. To release grades to all the selected learners click Release/Unrelease. You can release a final grade to an individual learner by clicking the corresponding Release checkbox.
Click the Save and Close button when you are done. Click Yes when a confirmation box pops up. You will be brought back to the Grades page. The open eye icon indicates that a grade has been released and is visible to learners.
