As teachers, we are responsible for ensuring that our students are learning. Monitoring class progress is more than just tracking students’ grades. It’s a good way to gather insight on students who are struggling on particular topics and those who need support. By utilizing BrightSpace’s progress reports, you are able to maximize the powerful features of this learning management system. BrightSpace can help you become a data-driven educator, who can respond to your students’ needs and personalize their learning experience .
Class Progress lists the learners enrolled in your course and provides visual indicators which makes it easier for you to view and compare learner progress at a glance.
Go to the Course and click Class Progress from the navigation bar.
Click on the indicator to go to the corresponding learner’s User Progress report. For example, you can click on a Content Completed indicator to see the progress of a student in terms of content.
Inside the Content Progress page of a student, you can see a progress bar that tracks the students completion for each unit. You may click on the right pointing arrows to expand the menu and show more completion details of a unit or lesson. The details also show if the student has visited the content, how many visits they have made, and how much time they have spent on a particular content.
You may hover your mouse on the profile photo of the student on the upper left portion of the page to access buttons that will allow you to send an email or instant message to that student.
Class Progress always displays 4 of 10 available indicators. Available indicators include:
Content Completed
Objectives
Assignment Submissions
Grades
Checklist Completion,
Content Visited
Discussion Participation
Login History
Quiz Performance
Survey completion.
You can change which indicators are displayed and which order they are displayed to make it easier to track and compare the performance of students.
Go to the Course and click Class Progress on the navigation bar.
Click the Settings button on the upper right portion of the page.
Click the context menu, or the downward pointing arrow beside an indicator. Click Move up to place the indicator to the left, or Move down to place the indicator to the right in the Class Progress.
Click Replace and click on a new indicator to remove the selected existing indicators display in the newly selected indicator in the Class Progress page.
Click Save once you are done. The new indicator will now be displayed.
